julie & robert - september 23, 2006

julie and robert are a couple that i have loved getting to know since our inital meeting this past winter. i learned that they met each other as teenagers when they were both dancers at a performing arts school in california. their lives have taken them many places and they chose to celebrate their wedding at the historic plummer house of the arts in their new home of rochester, minnesota. from top to bottom, it was a beautiful and classy event that embraced the gardens and the elegance of the venue while still keeping it very personal and fun:

here was julie's 'something blue':

the whole day was filled with all sorts of creative touches. they even had their own bottled water:

some pictures of julie and robert:

julie and her parents just before they walked down the aisle:

they had a beautiful ceremony with lot of laughs and tears. a view from above:

julie's grandfather got a kick out of the bubbles after the ceremony:

descending the staircase, ready to meet their guests:

having a bit of cake:

one of the most popular ideas they had was the candy bar, with all sorts of great treats:

even their dog carlito was part of the day. he helped show the guests which table was theirs:

it was an absolute joy to watch such amazing dancers enjoy their first dance as husband and wife. eat your heart out, fred and ginger:

i want to thank julie, robert, along with their family and friends for letting me feel such a part of this special occasion. it was an absolute joy to capture such a fun day. i hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time on your mini-moon!

amy & ryan - september 16, 2006

amy & ryan were married at colonial church in edina, mn on a gorgeous (and slightly windy) late summer day. people came from great distances to share in their special day, most notably amy's dad, kevin, and her childhood friend, peta who came over from england. their day was filled with so many great moments, it was hard to narrow it to a few images.

here's amy waiting for ryan before they see each other for the first time:

for a wedding day gift, amy got ryan plane tickets to boston and tickets to a game at fenway park. by his reaction, it was obviously a hit with him:

amy was so fun and laid back. plus she looked amazing:

amy's mom, phyllis, taking in the moment:

down the aisle:

enjoying a little champagne with the wedding party on the way to the celebration:

a couple casual portraits of the happy couple:

at the reception:

amy's dad's speech was definitely a hit. it had heartfelt emotion with a little dry wit thrown in for good measure:

the couple's first dance:

the father and daughter dance:

congratulations, amy & ryan. it was clear to see how happy you make each other. thank you for a great day, and have a wonderful time in london and nassau!

crystal & jeff - september 2, 2006

you always hear the old saying that opposites attract, and jeff and crystal might be a textbook example of this. they are a couple that as individuals seem very different, but together make a perfect whole. the way they complement each other is something special to see. i had a great time capturing their day and personalities and everything in between.

a fun twist on the ring shots:

i love this portrait of crystal:

getting some practice with her veil:

despite the busy, hectic day, jeff still found time to take a little rest:

the flower girl watching the bride come down the aisle:

lighting the unity candle:

the newlyweds taking a moment:

jeff making crystal crack up...something he definitely has a knack for:

i thought this was a very telling portrait of the two of them. jeff being cool and laid back, while crystal is being silly and a little sassy:

crystal with her bridesmaids. their dresses were so cool and unique, and i found out that crystal had them all custom-made:

jeff with his groomsmen doing their best gq poses:

i absolutely love orchids, so of course i love this cake, and the cake topper was sleek and elegant and the perfect added touch:

watching a slideshow at the reception (jeff wearing a cap from his beloved iowa state):

from beginning to end, it was a great day. it was so great to see such a huge turnout to a wedding, especially on such a busy holiday weekend. jeff and crystal are truly blessed to have such amazing friends and family, and especially each other. congratulations and best wishes!
